4 Speed Auto Transmission

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:36 pm

The 4 speed auto transmission is the model 604 and it is a pur piece of
crap!
I just laid out $1,600 dollars for one and I’m not the least bit happy.
The Overdrive and 3 will drop out on you about 90K when the clutch pack
burns out.  I found to my chagrin that most places did’nt want to touch it
and those that did only wanted to replace it.

See Chrysler had so many updates and fixes that repairing the damage was
not an option.

This is my 6th Chrysler in a row and so far in 1995 I’ve got nearly $3,000
in repairs.  Needless to say it’s my last Chrysler!

Fire Hazard on K cars

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:36 pm

Just thought you folks with K cars might want to take a look fro a
potential fire hazard.

On my sisters 84 Reliant 2.2 Auto the wiring harness coming out of the
fire wall was rubbing on the master cylinder housing.  One day when she
attempted to start the car the whole shebang shorted out and melted
resutling in a call from our friendly and very quick fire department who
managed to save the car.

My brother and I visited 3 "AUTO RECYCLING CENTERS" in the hopes of
securing a replacement harness.  On the 10 or so K Cards we checked only
one had a harness that wasn’t abraided to one degree or another.  We even
saw one that had burned completely!

After modifing the harness installatin we have painted the car (the
marguee now says UNRELIANT,) and added installed a fire extiquisher!

1990 Dodge Spirit ES Running Problems-Iacocca's Revenge!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:36 pm

I have a 1990 Dodge Spirit ES that is driving me nuts!

First the INFINITY stereo speakers suck!  They go for $165 bucks a pop and
I’ve had 3 out of 4 go since 1992.

Second the car will often not idle.  It just drops off the end on the
earth when decelerating.  I’ve replaced the map sensor, and O2 sensor.
I’ve had this problem since the car was new!  The dealers "can’;t find
anything wrong!"

Third I got bit by the infamous no run 604 automatic transmission.
$1,500.00

Fouth the brakes suck!  I’ve had to replace 7 rotors!

Fifth I’ve had the car to two dealers on this…  The started will not
spin up everytime the key is turned.  Sometimes I have to turn the key 14
or more time before the starter spins up! Sometimes I tuen the key and
everything resets to zero, the radio, trip computer etc. The dealer says
no problem on the computer!

Also the lights flick off at night and if the weather is just right ( damp
) the whole electrical system drops off while running!  This is a thrill
on the highway as the stupid electronic transmission drops down into
first!

Yesturday the started spun up but the engine didn’t catch.  When I turned
off the key the starte kept on spinning!  I didn’t have any tools an ran
to the corner station, when I got back it stopped!

My original dealer went out of business 6 months after I bought the car
and all the other jerks around here can’t find there a** with both hands!
Has anyone out the a clue as to whats going on with Ioccoca’s revenge?

Intercooler Add-on Questions

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:35 pm

I hav the opportunity to get my hands on an intercooler from a wrecked Dodge
Daytona Pacifica (1987).  I would like to put this on my ’86 Turbo Z.  Am I
asking for trouble, or are the modifications that are necessary not too hairy?
Is this even possible with my current configuration?  What should I be on the
look-out for?

Help is appreciated!

 Just wondering… :)

Head gasket leak

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:31 pm

It looks like my 89 Caravan with 2.5 L engine and 50,400 miles may have a head
gasket leak, as I noticed the coolant was very low in the overflow tank and the
exhaust is spitting out white smoke.  Recall 467 – head gasket replacement – was
done on the car in early 1990.  My question is, before replacing the head gasket, has
anyone had success with the ‘stop leak’ additives you can pour into the radiator?  If
so, is there one someone would recommend?  Thanks very much.
