Sounds just like my truck. I too have a ’95 1500 4×4, but I
bought it in Sept. of ’94. She has about 13.5k on her presently.

Mine does fine here in the Smokies with the engine, pulling a
horse trailer. Yeah, I could handle more grunt, but it does the
trick. I recently hauled 9 rowing shells about 30 miles or so
and had absolutely no problems with her, up and down mountains,
etc…

I haven’t had any problems at all in the mechanical area. The
only problem I had was my console got stuck shut and wouldn’t
open. It took the dealer about an hour with a crowbar and they
had to order a new console. I wouldn’t have been that concerned
except my cellular phone was locked in there. ;^(

I haven’t had a need for 4L yet, so I can’t help you with this.
The main thing I have used the 4H so far for has been pulling
boats out of the water, rain driving, and getting to the barn
and back. Once the truck has a few more scratches I will take it
off road.

I get approximately 12.5 in the city and about 16-18 on the
highway. I love the way this truck cruises. I got to Charleston
in 6 hours in it (normally a longer drive) and back from
Birmingham in 3 (normally much longer) without a problem. This
truck likes to go fast.
